My Dad used to be one of those anti-science people who protested against the voluntary retirement scheme rolled out in his bank — he feared like millions of others his age that automation would take away his job. But eventually, he took the VRS, got a handsome payout, and then invested that money in stocks. And used his spare time to enroll in Yoga, start his own little business venture, and share a ton of WhatsApp forwards with everyone in the family.

People opposing the use of ChatGPT on Medium are the same ones who fear that robots may one day supersede humans. And you won’t have to go far on the lookout for such people — there are many publications on Medium that wouldn’t allow any AI-generated content.

For those staying in a rock, ChatGPT, or Generative Pretrained Transformer, is an AI-powered language model developed by OpenAI. It has become increasingly popular in recent years, as it has proven to be capable of generating human-like text based on a given prompt. Some people have raised concerns that this technology could lead to the demise of traditional writing and journalism, but this is not necessarily the case.
