I agree on the first point that lesser days/hours would result in lesser pay but work remaining constant the productivity actually goes up and is a profitable situation for the company. However not sure why the wage growth problem would get worse. In fact, in my company here in Australia that is an option and people more than happily avail it for a variety of reasons and it gets recorded as 0.9 FTE or 0.8 FTE (full-time equivalent). Now I know there is a lot to debate on how the capacity is managed but that is a different topic altogether and wouldn’t comment on that, but wage problem seems a little far-fetched in my view.
