Don't Be Too Afraid To Fall
You’d not be able to articulate your problems, you may not comprehend the other person or follow a discussion, you may have to eat your words because you didn’t think it through. But it’s alright. You will be better the next time and the time after that.
If you are too scared to make mistakes, you won’t be able to explore new opportunities — present to someone, learn a new course, or use an alternative approach. Seize every opportunity.
Unlike my seniors at work who can maneuver their way out of a tough conversation, I am not that skilled. When I make a mistake, I just smile at my folly, get back up and re-correct my stance.
It’s okay to make mistakes—it’s okay to not understand something in the first place or misquote something unintentionally — what isn’t okay is to cover up your mistake. People can see through your bullshit and you lose credibility. But when you own it, you earn their trust.
Don’t be afraid to fall. If you don’t try, you will never know.
