Consistency will not get you a million followers. Improvement in your writing quality will.
I come across at least one article every day where a writer recommends showing up consistently. Agreed. Consistency will help you hone your writing skill-set and create credibility.
But then they reason saying you need to write every day because your readers are looking out for your writing. I respectfully disagree. Readers are looking for good content — they don’t care about you as a writer. As long as they see content in their feed that makes them click, they keep coming back. And that’s what algorithms do.
The algorithm favors the writers who write more consistently — it would show your content more frequently to your followers if you write regularly, but they are not actively waiting to devour your articles. There are a million other writers on the platform whose content is equally appealing as yours, if not more.
We should stop spinning lies around how you can grow your follower just by creating consistently.
Consistency is a must, and writing daily has many benefits — it builds self-discipline, improves quality, and establishes credibility. But building an audience isn’t one of them. It is an outcome of expanding your writing portfolio with time.
